In File Explorer, files that are not in the local cache have a grey X or brown box in their icons.  Examples of such icons:

Normally, the CacheDrive automatically downloads the file from the cloud on file access and the grey X or brown box disappears.

If the file cannot be downloaded from the cloud, the file contents are not available.  In some cases, the application might say that the file is corrupted or inaccessible.  Some possible reasons for why the file cannot be downloaded from the cloud include:

  1. Internet access is down.
  2. The cloud storage service (Wasabi, Amazon S3, etc.) is not available.
  3. The cache is full and files cannot be cached out.  For example, the cache is full of files that have not yet been uploaded to cloud storage.
