Seagate Lyve buckets can be used for Sync, Replicate, and Archive shares.


To add Lyve as a cloud storage provider:

  1. Create a Lyve bucket.
  2. Create a Bucket Permission (if necessary) and a Service Account with access to the Lyve bucket.
  3. Add the Lyve bucket to your Morro account.
  4. Create a pool and shares using the new Lyve bucket.



Create a Seagate Lyve Bucket


To create a Lyve bucket:

  1. Login to your Lyve account.
  2. Click Buckets in the left side menu, then click Create Bucket.
  3. In the Create Bucket dialog, enter a bucket name and select a Region, then click Create.

Create Bucket Permissions and Service Account


If you do not already have a service account with access to the bucket:

  1. Click Permissions in the left side menu, then click Create Bucket Permission.
  2. In the Create Bucket Permission dialog, enter a name, then select the bucket name in the Buckets dropdown.  Make sure that all operations are allowed for this bucket permission.  Click Create.

To create a new Service Account:

  1. Click on Service Accounts in the left side menu, then click Create Service Account.
  2. Enter a Service Account Name, then select the appropriate Bucket Permission.
  3. Click Create.  The New Service Account Created dialog will appear.  Click CSV to download the keys to your local computer.

Add the Lyve Bucket to Your Morro Account


To add the Lyve bucket to your Morro account:

  1. Login to MCM.
  2. Go to File System, then click Add Cloud Storage.

  3. Select the Lyve icon under Providers, enter the required information, then click Create.  See below for more details.

If you intend to use the Lyve bucket for Sync or Replicate shares, select "Your Object Storage for Sync".  For Archive shares, select "Your Object Storage for Archive".


The following fields are available in the Add Cloud Storage dialog:

  • Name - The name of the bucket as it appears in MCM.
  • Bucket Name - The name of the bucket as shown in Lyve.  This would be the same name that appears under the Name column in the Lyve configuration site's Buckets page.
  • Key ID - The Access Key from the CSV download.
  • Secret Key - The Secret Key from the CSV download.
  • Region - Bucket region, e.g. US-West-1 or US-East-1.



Create Pool and Shares


After adding the new cloud storage to your Morro Account, go to MCM -> File System -> Shares and click Create Pool to create a storage pool using the new bucket.  Then, you may create shares normally.  For more information, see the following articles:

Notes on Features

Account Permissions

If permissions are changed in the Lyve account, an email will be sent the Morro account administrators. Changes to permissions may cause an interruption in service.

Deleting Cloud Storage

Lyve cloud storage can be deleted once all the pools and shares within the storage are deleted.
