Manage Storage Pool for Sync
GENERAL
Storage Pool Fields
- Name - The name of the storage pool.
- Comment - An optional comment for the storage pool.
- Cloud Storage Group - The Cloud Storage Group to which this pool belongs.
- Enable Multicloud - If this pool uses more than one Cloud Store, use this option to enable multicloud redundancy.
- All shares in the pool will use the same redundancy option.
- Archive pools cannot use multi-cloud redundancy.
- BackBlaze pools do not support this option.
ADVANCED - Versioning
- Version Control - The number of file versions to keep.
See the following article for details on how versions are retained:
Versioning and File Retention Policy
ADVANCED - Prefetch
- Enable Prefetch - Make the Prefetch option available for shares in this pool. Prefetch forces CacheDrives to download all new files when they are created instead of when they are accessed.
For more information on the prefetch feature, please see the following article:
How do I force a CacheDrive to always fetch new files in a share?
ADVANCED - Multicloud
Use Multicloud to add another Cloud Storage Group to a pool for redundancy, expansion, or data migration.
Three options are available:
- Add CSG For Redundancy - To backup the files in the pool to another Cloud Storage Group, enable "Add CSG For Redundancy" to add another Cloud Storage Group to the pool. All new and existing files in the pool will be stored in both Cloud Storage Groups.
- Add CSG To Expand - To use a new Cloud Storage Group in a pool directly, enable the "Add CSG To Expand" option. Existing files in the pool are still kept in the old Cloud Storage Group and new files or new versions of the existing files will be uploaded to the newly added Cloud Storage Group exclusively. Two Cloud Storage Groups will be used when accessing files depending on where the files are stored.
- Migrate Objects To New CSG - To replace the current Cloud Storage Group, enable the "Migrate Objects To New CSG" option. Existing files in the pool will be migrated to the newly added Cloud Storage Group and deleted from the old Cloud Storage Group. Once all of the files in the pool have been migrated to the newly added Cloud Storage Group, the old Cloud Storage Group will be removed from the pool automatically.
Add CSG For Redundancy
Add CSG
Click the "Add CSG For Redundancy" button on the Multicloud page to add a Cloud Storage Group to the pool for redundancy. All new and existing files in the pool will be stored in both Cloud Storage Groups.
The following options are available when adding redundancy to a pool:
- Cloud Storage Group to be added - Select a Cloud Storage Group to add to this pool.
- Only latest version for existing files - When this option is enabled, only the latest versions of existing files will be backed up to the newly added Cloud Storage Group. When this option is disabled, all versions of existing files will be backed up to the newly added Cloud Storage Group.
- Gateway - Select a CacheDrive to back up the existing files in the pool to the newly added Cloud Storage Group.
- Status - The status of the backup process for existing files in the pool.
- Schedule - The schedule for the backup process for existing files in the pool.
Set the options as needed, set the schedule for the backup of existing files, then click the "OK" button. The selected CacheDrive will back up existing files in the pool to the newly added Cloud Storage Group according to the schedule.
Delete CSG
After all existing files with versions in the pool have been backed up to the newly added Cloud Storage Group, the "Delete CSG" button will appear. Use this button to remove the old Cloud Storage Group from the pool.
- For "Add CSG For Redundancy", disable redundancy by selecting one Cloud Storage Group to remove.
Select Primary Storage
- Select Primary Storage - Set the primary Cloud Storage Group for uploads and downloads for each CacheDrive.
- All CacheDrives that map at least one share in this pool will be shown on this page.
- When uploading a file, the CacheDrive will upload to the primary Cloud Storage Group first, then immediately upload to the secondary Cloud Storage Group.
- Once files have been uploaded to both Cloud Storage Groups, they can be downloaded from the CacheDrive's primary Cloud Storage Group. If downloading from the primary Cloud Storage Group fails, the CacheDrive will attempt to download from the secondary Cloud Storage Group.
- Defer Upload to Secondary
- If "Defer upload to secondary" is enabled, files are uploaded to the primary Cloud Storage Group normally, but files will not be uploaded to the secondary Cloud Storage Group until all files in the queue have been uploaded to the primary Cloud Storage Group.
- Once a file has been uploaded to the primary Cloud Storage Group, the file can be downloaded from CacheDrive's primary or secondary Cloud Storage Group.
- Defer Upload to Secondary is supported only by sync shares.
Add CSG To Expand
Click the "Add CSG To Expand" button on the Multicloud page to add a Cloud Storage Group to the pool. Existing files in the pool still be kept in the old Cloud Storage Group and new files or new versions of the existing files will be uploaded to the newly added Cloud Storage Group exclusively.
